Practicing Feeling Good Enough

” The only one who gets to decide your

worth is you!”‘

Hello Girl Bosses! Everyone in their life time goes through a period of time where they don’t think that they are good enough, or people make them feel that they are not good enough. Society wiggles its way into our lives and we feel like if we don’t fit into those standards then we will not be accepted. It is human nature to want to fit in and deemed as worthy. Except, societies measure of worthiness are simply not measures of worth at all. Here is a list of things that have absolutely nothing to do with your self worth:

  • Your Weight
  • The Label on your Shirt
  • The amount in your Bank Account
  • Where you grew up
  • Where you went to school
  • The number of “likes” you got on your last instagram post
  • The car you drive
  • Your Parental Status
  • What you do for a living
  • How much you can lift in the gym…. and many more

Hopefully this list help put your mind at ease a little bit. Except, I understand that just reading a list isn’t going to change your mind set when it comes to your own worth. That is why this is called a practice. We need to constantly work to change the mind set we have about ourselves and how it is reflected by society. This kind of practice isn’t going to give you all of the result that you want within a week or two. This is a lifelong practice that benefits you in the here and now and as you go on with life.

For starters: Try to reduce the amount of times that you compare yourself to other people. If scrolling through social media makes you feel bad about yourself, then reduce the amount of time you use on social media or stop it entirely. I suggest that you try a media cleanse for a week or two and see how much better you feel about yourself when you compare yourself less to unrealistic standards and spend more time loving yourself.

Secondly: Remind yourself of your own self value and your own self worth. Remind yourself that you are worthy.

Then: Make mental lists of all of your strengths and accomplishments. Try not to self criticize and start to speak kindly to yourself. Criticism is the worst feeling that you can inflict on yourself. Give yourself permission to continue growing, and that may even include mistakes, failures, and bad decisions. That is okay because we are only human.

Lastly: Remember this is a practice that you will need to do a lot and it takes time to see results.
